I always try to get a photo whenever a new car turns up at a meeting or a rally - so I snapped a couple shots of the HR Holden Sedan when I saw it parked at the Village.

Alan was extremely careful to ensure the car was fully locked before taking his seat for the committee meeting about 15 feet away.

The   following weekend Allan opened up the bonnet and I was invited to take a look inside,  so I snapped a couple more photos - just so I could fill the page.

The car has spent its entire life locally in Calliope and has traveled around 74,000 miles, the rest of the time it has spent under a cover and Allan showed me the tiniest tell tale marks that the cover had worn on the sharp corners of the body-work above the tail light lenses - but I never had my glasses on so I missed them.  I did ask what colour the car was but Allan just shrugged his shoulders and said "Gold ?"

Janet came to his assistance with  "Scotch Finger Biscuit Colour"  But I am quite willing to bet that she never read that on the Owners manual. But until such times as this  newsletter is published in colour  or you see the car - that will have to do.

Under the bonnet everything looks spotless, Allen was quick to point out two very minor chips of paint missing on one of the covers and told me that he was going to "touch them up"

The Club does not have a vast number of Holdens  between its members and I for one was pleased to get a photo of it as Web site visitors from the USA and the UK have a fascination for the Holden and I know it will create a nice flow of traffic on the Club website.

Many Australians would be totally shocked at the price this car could fetch at a U.K. auction.  It has two extra Cylinders, and  a ton more room than the local British cars - it also has the steering wheel on the correct side of the car. . . And in the U.K   - its  big, beautiful, gutsy,  and RARE!     A much overlooked  Australian Classic……..
