1929 Buick Model 49 - Passenger Tourer - Series 129 was produced to cope with the growing popularity of open hood cars. Long wheelbase and extra wide seats combine to give it luxurious roominess. Its low, sweeping lines are accentuated by the folding windshield. It set a new vogue in open cars with its plush upholstry and smart, distinctive performance. Bumpers and spare time were extra equipment. The 1929 Buick Tourer included several technical innovations including Engine: 6 cylinder 90.5 Bhp powerstation engine delivering 2800 RPM with a Piston displacement of 309 cu in Carburetor: Marvel Automatic and Manual Heat Control Turning Circle: 44 Feet Right and Left Oiling System: Pressure to Crankshaft, Connecting Rods, and Rocker Arms Crankcase Ventilator: Forced Ventilation Electrical System: Delco-Remy - Mech Chassis Lubrication: Pressure Gun - Zerk Grouped Connections Steering Gear: Jacox-Screw and Split Nut Wheelbase: 128.75 inches with a front tread of 56.25 and a rear tread of 58 inches The 1929 Buick Tourer was a small but distinctive member to the family of cars and was famous for its adaptability to all sorts of conditions. It created its market identity through its family oriented attractions and hence it is still considered a great collectable by Buick car enthusiasts. |
